Udhampur, Sept 29: Two huge explosions took place in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir since Wednesday night in which two people were injured. This comes ahead of the three-day visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the Union Territory during the first week of the coming month.

Two blasts occurred within 8 hours in J&K’s Udhampur, 2 injured

As per the reports, the first blast took place around 10.30 pm in a bus parked at Domail Chowk near a petrol pump in Udhampur injuring two people - its conductor Sunil Singh (27) and his friend Vijay Kumar (40). Both were sitting inside the driver’s cabin at that time.

The bus was parked at Domail Chowk after its daily sortie on the Udhampur-Ramnagar-Basantgarh route. Reports suggest that two unidentified persons had loaded some luggage, including a mattress, on the roof of the bus for their transportation to Ramnagar in the morning. The explosion took place nearly three hours after they left.

Soon after the first blast, police teams reached the spot and cordoned off the area. However, while they were trying to find leads in the matter, another blast took place around 5 am Thursday in another bus parked at the Udhampur bus stand. However, no one was injured in the second explosion.

The twin explosions in Udhampur town have come after nearly six months. One person was killed and 17 others were injured in an explosion caused by a sticky bomb in Slathia Chowk on March 9 this year.
