After Priti Patel's resignation, Indian origin Suella Braverman appointed new UK Home Secretary

Suella Braverman was previously Attorney General between 2020 - 2022. Prior to that, she was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for exiting the European Union from Jan to Nov 2018.

London, Sept 7: Suella Braverman , an Indian-origin barrister, was appointed as the UK's new Home Secretary, replacing fellow colleague Priti Patel who is also of Indian descent. The new Prime Minister of the UK Liz Truss had appointed Suella Braverman as her Home Secretary.

Suella Braverman was previously Attorney General between 2020 - 2022. Prior to that, she was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for exiting the European Union from Jan to Nov 2018. Suella was elected as the Conservative MP for Fareham in May 2015. Queen Elizabeth II on Tuesday (Sept 6) appointed the Conservative Party leader Liz Truss as the new Prime Minister of the UK.
 
Former UK Home Secretary Priti Patel has resigned from the position and plans not to serve in the cabinet of the newly-elected Prime Minister Liz Truss. In a letter to outgoing UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Patel wrote, "It is my choice to continue my public service to the country and the Witham constituency from the backbenches, once Liz formally assumes office and a new Home Secretary is appointed."
