Dumka, Sept 8: In a shameful manner, Basant Soren, the brother of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has given a statement that can raise concerns about the governance in Jharkhand. Speaking about his absence from the state during the recent political crisis and heinous crimes taking place continuously, he said that he ran out of undergarments so he went to Delhi to purchase them.
The JMM MLA said, "I had run out of undergarments, so I went to Delhi to purchase them. I get them from there. The political crisis is a normal thing and it keeps happening."
The insensitivity remarks continued by the JMM leaders as the CM also made such statements when he spoke about the minor tribal boy who was raped, and murdered, and whose body was found hanging from a tree in the Dumka district. He had said, "Incidents happen. Where do they not occur?".
Beside, the remarks by Basant Soren has erupted a controversy on social media where he was slammed for making such remarks at a time when two minor girls were brutally murdered. Journalist Aman Chopra took to Twitter and wrote, “Remember a plane flew from Bhopal to Indore to pick up Nehru’s fav 555 brand Cigarettes and now this. Plane to buy undergarments from Delhi. Basant Soren, brother of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, is an MLA from Dumka, where murders are taking place continuously.”
Nonetheless, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and the MLA from Dumka also visited the families of the two victims from Dumka. He also met the families of the two minor victims from Dumka.
As earlier, reported, NCPCR chief Priyank Kanoongo, who was in Jharkhand with his team to probe two minor girls’ deaths in Dumka, claimed that the state government was "trying to obstruct investigation". Kanoongo said that he had informed the government about the visit, but necessary arrangements have not been made to aid the inquiry.
