Big day for Indian film Industry! Kantara, The Kashmir Files and Gangubai Kathiawadi feature in Oscar 2023's reminder list

It's indeed a great day for the Indian film Industry as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced a list of feature film productions that are eligible for the 95th Academy Awards and many Indian films have found a place in it. A total of 301 feature films are eligible for the 95th Oscars.

Kantara

As per the list, the Bollywood movie 'The Kashmir Files' has been shortlisted for the prestigious film festival Oscars, 2023. Sharing his excitement over the same, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri tweeted, "BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: #TheKashmirFiles has been shortlisted for #Oscars2023 in the first list of @TheAcademy. It’s one of the 5 films from India. I wish all of them the very best. A great year for Indian cinema."

Besides, Kannada film Kantara, which saw huge commercial and critical success all over India, has received two Oscar qualifications. Kantara is written and directed by Rishab Shetty, who is also the lead actor in the film. “We are overjoyed to share that 'Kantara' has received 2 Oscar qualifications! A heartfelt thank you to all who have supported us. We look forward to share this journey ahead with all of your support. Can’t wait to see it shine at the @shetty_rishab #Oscars,” the production company tweeted.
 
 
Moreover, several other Indian films including Gangubai Kathiawadi, RRR, Chhello Show, Iravin Nizhal, Rocketry, Me Vasantrao, The Next Morning and Vikrant Rona among others have made it to the reminder list of films eligible for Oscars 2023.
 
It is to be noted that the eligible voting members will start filling out their ballots on January 12 and the ballots will conclude on January 17. The Oscars 2023 ceremony will be held on January 24.
 

Earlier in December, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had announced the shortlists for the Oscars in 10 categories. Among the entries that had made it to the shortlist were India's official entry Chhello Show (international feature film), the acclaimed documentary feature All That Breathes (documentary feature), the documentary short The Elephant Whisperers (documentary short), and the song ‘Naatu Naatu’ from RRR (music (original song)).
