Archaeology Expo organized at Nagpur University resembles culture of Vidarbha

Amidst the display of scientific developments, Nagpur University also put up this expo showcasing the rich heritage of India and Vidarbha.

Nagpur, Jan 10: The exhibition of rare, ancient artefacts organized by the department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology proved to be a complete guide about the culture of Vidarbha region, to the thousands of outstation visitors to the Indian Science Congress (ISC).

As reported by TOI, Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, formally inaugurated this exhibition on the sidelines of the 108th Indian Science Congress. Singh said that India today is a part of a global world. “Our concerns and challenges are global be it climate change, green energy or AI. It is important to move to the next level of sustainability.
 
 
 
 
 
The country always had capability, talented and passionate minds but only a conducive atmosphere was missing” he said. Amidst the display of scientific developments, Nagpur University also put up this expo showcasing the rich heritage of India and Vidarbha. Students of the department have put up various stalls about the rich cultural heritage.
 
The display includes pictorial information about ancient forts like Nagardhan around Nagpur, heritage structures in the city, and literature regarding the Jhadiboli dialect which is spoken especially in western Vidarbha. “This exhibition is our special contribution to the Indian Science Congress. Awareness about heritage is also an important aspect of the scientific attitude,” said prof Preety Trivedi, head of the department.
