Prithvi Shaw smashes 379 in Ranji Trophy,
On Tuesday, Shaw ended Day One of the fifth round Ranji trophy match unbeaten on a career-best 240 from just 283 balls. The 23-year-old continued from where he had left off on Day One of the match and scored his maiden triple hundred on Wednesday from just 326 deliveries and smashed 379 runs.

He scored with a strike-rate of almost hundred and started hitting boundaries at will to put Mumbai in complete control of their match against Assam. He surpassed the individual scores achieved by some of the legends of the game on his way to 379.

Initially, he broke Sunil Gavaskar's 340 run record for Mumbai in the tournament and then went past Cheteshwar Pujara and VVS Laxman as well. Pujara had scored 352 for Saurashtra against Karnatka during the 2012-13 Ranji Trophy season. Laxman's score of 353 for Hyderabad against Karnataka in the 1999-00 season was also surpassed by the Mumbai batter on Wednesday.

Shaw would then go past Sanjay Manjrekar's 377, which was the highest score by a Mumbai batter, and broke the 32-year-old record with his 379 runs against Assam.

Then, Shaw surpassed numerous records, as he became the second-highest individual scorer in Indian First-Class cricket history, behind only the legendary B.B. Nimbalkar.

The opener was finally dismissed by Riyan Parag who was able to trap him in front of the stumps. Shaw scored 379 off just 383 deliveries and his innings had 49 boundaries and four massive sixes.
