Nagpur, January 14: In a major development, Union Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari's Nagpur office on Saturday (January 14) received three threatening calls. As per the reports, following the development, Nagpur police have beefed up the security around the venue of the MInister.

The threat calls made by unknown miscreants were received at the landline number of the minister's office It is being said that his office received three calls at 11.25 am, 11.32 am, and 12.32 pm.
 
Soon after the staff alerted the police about the development. Following this the police have launched a probe into the matter. As per the initial investigation, the caller purportedly uttered the name of mafia don Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar. The caller reportedly made extortion demands and issued death threats to Gadkari before ending the call abruptly, the report added. - Nitin Gadkari is currently in Nagpur for the Makar Sankranti festival.
 
 
 
According to the police, no information about the person(s) responsible for the call, or their motive is known yet. They are hopeful of making a breakthrough as the investigation expands. They are in the process of examining the call data in order to ascertain the identities.
 
Speaking about the incident, DCP of Nagpur, Rahul Madane said, "There were three phone calls. The details are being found, and our crime branch will work on the CDR. An analysis is underway. Existing security has been increased. Security has also been increased at the venue of the program of minister Gadkari."
