Jaipur, Jan 17: The Rajasthan Congress has long been witnessing a rift within the party with former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot failing to come to terms with each other despite numerous efforts by party members and high command.

Amid the ongoing cold war, Sachin Pilot today took aim at his own state government while campaigning in Nagaur. During the rally, he brought up the recent leak of the general knowledge exam for teachers in Rajasthan.

"Sometimes question papers are leaked, sometimes exams are canceled...It is very painful and distressing... Children and their parents go through so much trouble for an education. The students toil day and night while preparing for their exams," said the former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister. "I hope the government goes after the big fish instead of the small-time touts," Pilot said. Pilot's fresh remark comes after Ashok Gehlot, in an explosive interview with a media house, called him a "gaddar (traitor)" and said he would not be chief minister. "A gaddar (traitor) cannot be Chief Minister. The High Command cannot make Sachin Pilot the Chief Minister... a man who doesn't have 10 MLAs. Who revolted? He betrayed the party, (he) is a traitor," Ashok Gehlot had said of his younger rival.

Notably, Sachin Pilot is on a solo campaign in Rajasthan ahead of polls later this year. In the backdrop of his public outreach events in the state, the Congress on Friday said its president Mallikarjun Kharge and other leaders are working to find a solution to the party's issues there that will strengthen the organization.
