New Delhi, Jan 19: After asking for support for the protests against Wrestling Federation of India over sexual assaults and harassment, Indian ace wrestler Bajrang Punia asked Brinda Karat, a Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader to step down from stage.

The CPI-M leader reached Delhi's Jantar Mantar where wrestlers continued their sit-in protest for the second day demanding action against the Wrestling Federation of India chief and other officials.
In a video shared by news agency ANI, Punia, a 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medalist, can be heard saying, “We don't want the protest to take a political shape”.

Olympians and star wrestlers Sakshee Malikkh, Vinesh Phogat, and Bajrang Punia on Wednesday made claims of harassment against officials and coaches of WFI and led a sit-in protest against the "dictatorship" of the national federation President at Jantar Mantar which entered day two today.
