Vishwa Hindu Parishad national spokesperson Vinod Bansal took to Twitter to share two videos. The first video was reportedly captured outside the Badwali Chowki while the second occurred outside the Khajrana Police Station in Indore.

VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal tagged state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Home Minister Narottam Mishra in the tweet and wrote, "They (Chouhan and Mishra) possibly don’t know that ‘sar tan se juda’ gang has become active in Indore today." He said there was an urgent need to take action against these "jihadi" elements.

"Our high level state delegation is going to meet the highest police authority in Indore tonight to take stern action against the Jihadi gang immediately," Bansal wrote in another tweet.

Reports suggest a local VHP delegation met with City Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra and presented a memorandum against this incident reported outside the Badwali Chowki. A case under section 505 and other relevant provisions of the India Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Sadar Bazar police station for alleged objectionable sloganeering in the Badwali Chowki area.

According to reports, the offensive slogans were raised in response to some organisations’ demonstrations in parts of Madhya Pradesh against the premiere of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan movie.

Notably, ever since now suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma made objectionable remarks against Prophet Muhammad, ‘Gustakh-E-Rasool Ki Ek Hi Saza, Sar Tan Se Juda’ slogans have been heard from many parts of the country.

Several violent incidents were reported in India following the incident. Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor of Udaipur was beheaded inside his shop by such radical Islamists for supporting Nupur Sharma in June last year. The killers claimed that they committed the murder to avenge alleged insult to Islam.

In yet another such incident reported in the same month, Umesh Kolhe was killed in Amravati for sharing a social media post supporting Nupur Sharma over her remarks on the Prophet Mohammad.

Kanhaiya Lal and Umesh Kolhe murder cases were handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
