Islamabad, Jan 31: In yet another terror strike, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), carried out a deadly suicide bombing on a mosque in Peshawar, leaving at least 50 dead and more than 100 injured. Shortly after the attack, the banned outfit claimed responsibility for the bombing.
On Twitter, Sarbakaf Mohmand, a leader of this radical Islamist claimed the responsibility for the attack. Reports suggest that Sarbakaf Mohmand is the brother of deceased TTP commander Omar Khalid Khorasani. He tweeted that the suicide attack was part of a revenge attack for his brother, who was killed in Afghanistan in August 2022.
The incident took place in Peshawar's Police Lines area mosque during afternoon prayers. Security officials have said that the suicide attacker was present in the front row during the prayers when he exploded himself.
