After many George Soros-funded oppositions including Priyanka Chaturvedi, and Mahua Moitra, tried to run theri propaganda against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and govt, claiming Apple has warned them about the ‘state-sponsored’ hackers are trying to attack their IPhones, now Apple has come forward and bused their agenda.
THEIR PROPAGANDA
Early Tuesday morning, parliamentarians Priyanka Chaturvedi, Mahua Moitra, Shashi Tharoor, and Congress’ head of media and publicity Pawan Khera, shared screenshots on X (formerly known as Twitter) about Apple warning them about a likely state-sponsored attack targeting their iPhones.
TMC Mahua Moitra, who is currently facing a Parliamentary Ethics Committee probe over 'cash-for-query' allegations, also shared the message and blamed the government.
Apple warned the opposition leaders through an SMS and an email. The SMS read, “State-sponsored attackers may be targeting your iPhone. Apple believes you are being targeted by state-sponsored attackers who are trying to remotely compromise the iPhone associated with your Apple ID…”
Apple said, “These attackers are likely targeting you individually because of who you are or what you do. If your device is compromised by a state-sponsored attacker, they may be able to remotely access your sensitive data, communications, or even the camera and microphone,” adding that there is a possibility that this is a false alarm.
Jumping into the controversy, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claimed that people in his office, several parties and other opposition leaders have been sent a warning by Apple of state-sponsored attackers targeting their phone, and alleged that as soon as the Adani issue is touched, probe agencies and snooping are deployed. He also alleged that the government was indulging in “distraction politics” on the Adani issue.
During a press conference, Gandhi also showed a copy of the warning e-mail received by several opposition leaders from Apple phone manufacturer about “state-sponsored attackers trying to compromise” their phone.
APPLE ISSUES CLARIFICATION ON SECURITY ALERT NOTIFICATION SENT TO INDIA'S OPPOSITION LEADERS:
Apple clarified that these threat messageswere false alarms and such threat messages have been sent to Apple users in 150 countries. The US-headquartered gadget maker clarified that it “does not attribute the threat notifications to any specific state-sponsored attacker".
“Apple does not attribute the threat notifications to any specific state-sponsored attacker. State-sponsored attackers are very well-funded and sophisticated, and their attacks evolve. Detecting such attacks relies on threat intelligence signals that are often imperfect and incomplete", the statement read.
“It’s possible that some Apple threat notifications may be false alarms, or that some attacks are not detected. We are unable to provide information about what causes us to issue threat notifications, as that may help state-sponsored attackers adapt their behaviour to evade detection in the future”, the Apple statement added.
GOVT ORDERS PROBE, SAYS APPLE’S ADVISORY IN 150 COUNTRIES
Speaking on the issue, Union Minister for Communications, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “The government is concerned about this issue and it will go to the bottom of it. There are some compulsive critics in the country. These people can’t see the development of the country because when their family was in power they only thought about themselves. Apple has issued this advisory in 150 countries…”
