NB In List | 35% reservation for women in govt jobs in Madhya Pradesh; Other women centric schemes in state-

Bhopal, Oct 5: In a significant development, the Madhya Pradesh government has issued a notification for providing 35 percent reservation in recruitment to women, barring the Forest department in the state. It has made amendment to the Madhya Pradesh Civils Services (Special Provision for Appointment of Women) Rules, 1997 to give 35% reservation to women.

 

 

 

 

According to the copy of notification, "Notwithstanding anything contained in any service rules, there shall be reserved 35 percent of all posts in the service under the state (except Forest Department) in favour of women at the stage of direct recruitment and the said reservation shall be horizontal and compartment-wise."

 

 

Women-centric schemes are the single biggest factor the BJP in Madhya Pradesh has designed its campaign around for the upcoming assembly election.

 

1. Madhya Pradesh was the first state to introduce 50% reservation for women in elections to panchayats and urban bodies.

 

2. It also has a 30% reservation for women in the police.

 

3. The state also offers concessional tariffs for registry of property in case it is in a woman’s name.

 

4. The BJP government, under Shivraj Singh Chouhan, also introduced a scheme for marriage- the Mukyamantri Kanyadaan Yojana. The objective is to provide financial help to poor, needy, destitute families for marrying off their daughters/widows/divorcees.

 

5. The latest and most elaborate pro-women initiative has been the Ladli Behna Yojana, under which eligible women get Rs 1,250 per month. The total number of beneficiaries has now touched 13.2 million across the state.
