Dindigul, February 14: Coming under pressure after a video in which a farmer frustrated with the police is seen consuming poison inside the station wen viral on social media, the DMK government suspended the Inspector posted at Ammayanayakanur police station.
The incident took place on February 07 in Tamil Nadu's Dindigul district .
As per the reports, Pandi, a farmer who was frustrated with the police for not taking any action against a gang allegedly trying to encroach on his land, had consumed poison inside Ammayanayakanur police station on February 7.
He was taken to a hospital, however he died on Thursday ( February 09)morning. Police then filed a case against three men.
A video emerged that showed Pandi sitting on the stairs of the police station, slowly losing consciousness while the station Inspector Shanmugalakshmi stood next to him. She was reportedly speaking to a senior officer over the phone and others for nearly two minutes, instead of taking Pandi to a hospital.
Shanmugalakshmi was earlier transferred to the Armed Reserve and then suspended after the video went viral.
