The recent development in the Khalistani row is interesting, as Bhagat Singh, who is renowned for his work written during his imprisonment, titled 'Why am I an Atheist?' and who is also known to have strongly condemned the Brahmanical caste hierarchy that existed in British times, was called a 'TRAITOR' & 'BOOTLICKER OF THE BRAHMINS' by Khalistani activist in UK, that too on the occasion of Shaheedi Diwas.

The incident was known due to a video that surfaced on social media on the day India remembered Bhagat Singh, along with freedom fighters Shivram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar, who were executed on Mar 23 1931 in the Lahore Conspiracy Case. In fact, it seems to be a deliberate attempt to time the release of the video with Shaheedi Diwas, particularly to provoke the nationalistic sentiments of Indians and Sikhs who haven't sided with the Khalistan movement & stand solemnly with India.

The act of Gurcharan Singh, a Dal Khalsa leader from UK, comes days after Dal Khalsa founder Jaswant Singh Thekedar exposed the ISI links of the Khalistani movement in an interview with ANI. Thekedar had said in the interview, "The (Khalistan) referendum you are talking about, those in Punjab do not demand it. It's an organisation 2020, they talk of referendum on the instructions of ISI. Referendum does not mean... if Indian passport holders or Indian citizens want it then it is understandable, but it is not that Canadian, American or British people vote. They do not have any right."
