Bengaluru, April 05: Putting a fullstop on the speculation going about his possible entry in Karnataka Politics, the Kannada superstar Kichcha Sudeep announced his full support to BJP saying that he will only be campaigning for the party but will not contesting elections.
While speaking at press conference, Sudeep said, "I call Basavaraj Bommai my uncle so I’ll support him in Personal capacity. I have arrived to declare that I’m with him. I will campaign for him & other candidates recommended by him.”
Reacting to this, CM Bommai said, "Sudeep doesn't belong to any political party. He has announced his support for me. His support for me also means that he is supporting the party (BJP)."
It should be noted that, since the speculation about his debut in politics were going around on social media, sudeep's manager Jack Manju started receiving a letter from an unknown person. Talking about it, the actor told media persons, “Yes, I have received a threat letter and I know who sent it to me. I know it is from someone in the film industry. I will give a befitting reply to them. I will work in favour of those who stand by my side in my tough times."
It should be noted here that the Election Commission of India announced the schedule of the Assembly elections in Karnataka today.
The state will witness a single phase of voting on May 10, whereas, results will be declared on May 13. Notably, the term of the 224-member Karnataka Assembly will be ending on May 24. Speaking at the press conference, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that more than 9.17 lakh first-time voters will be participating in the upcoming elections in Karnataka.
