Karnataka Election Results 2023 Live Updates: Congress now comfortably ahead in Karnataka with leads in 120+ seats

The Congress has obtained a vote share of 43.2 percent as against the BJP"s 36 percent. As per the current trends, Congress is maintaining its lead over BJP and is above the half-way mark of 112. The BJP"s leads have stabilised at 70+ but the JD(S) now has leads in nearly 30 seats.

After nearly three hours of counting votes, the Congress was flirting with the halfway-mark in the 224-member Karnataka Assembly. The incumbent BJP was closing the gap which the Congress had opened up in early leads, while the Deve Gowda-led JD(S) held on to third place.

The Congress has obtained a vote share of 43.2 percent as against the BJP's 36 percent. As per the current trends, Congress is maintaining its lead over BJP and is above the half-way mark of 112. The BJP's leads have stabilised at 70+ but the JD(S) now has leads in nearly 30 seats.
 
In 2018, the BJP won 104 seats with 36 per cent vote share and the Congress 80 seats with 38 per cent vote share. The JD(S) won 37 seats with a 19 per cent vote share.
 
 
 
In key trends, former CM Siddaramaiah was in a clear lead in Varuna in Old Mysore, former JD(S) CM H D Kumaraswamy was trailing narrowly in Channapatna for a while, BJP CM Basavaraj Bommai was in the lead in Shiggaon in Haveri and former CM B S Yediyurappa's son was in the lead in Shikaripura.
 
As many as 10 BJP ministers including health minister K Sudhakar, agriculture minister B C Patil, youth minister K C Narayanagowda were trailing. The three ministers named above were part of a group of 17 Congress and JD(S) MLAs who switched to the BJP in 2019.
