Murphy’s Law of Management- Your Job to Prove it Wrong: My Story

What is the point of telling the story? Do you think I could have narrated the story if I had that Rs 500 note in my pocket that day?

Google and India's MeitY Join Hands for 'G20-Stay Safe Online'It has always been a practice with me to carry some cash whenever I go for walk in my track pant. Somehow, it has been a subconscious concern with me that I may not have money when I require it in an emergency.

Life

The day was Saturday and I went for a walk at 7 AM in the morning. Just 500 meters away from my home, on the opposite side of divider, suddenly I heard a big thud and could see a Motor cycle rider on the ground. I rushed to the spot, meanwhile two other security guys from the adjoining buildings also chipped in. We tried to support the gentleman to get up and found to our horror that he was not getting the support of one of the knees, it was broken. Somehow, we managed to bring him to one side of the road and picked and pulled the MC also.

The first question I asked “I hope you had the breakfast in the morning.”

He did not have any breakfast. He told us that he wanted to save the stray dog who was trying to chase him and MC slipped. Pain in the knee was yet to set in but obviously it was broken and he was not feeling it either. He was diabetic.

The first thing which came to my mind was his sugar level and not his knee. I could sense it was down.
I thought, I should get him some Chocolate at the earliest so that his sugar level comes up immediately. There was a grocery shop 50 meters away and I could purchase for him.

I checked up my pocket, there was no money and suddenly I realised that I have not taken the Rs 500 note which was kept in the drawer, today morning.

It was so painful for me.

I went to the shop and told him that I stay in the nearby society, can you give me a chocolate bar for this guy. I will pay you later.

He refused.

Security guys also did not have money with them but one of them was ready to part with his breakfast for this guy. That was not enough.

"Anything that can go wrong will go wrong."

So, I rushed back, came to home and found the home locked. My wife probably went to Society Gym, so I rushed. Found out that she was not there.

I called; she did not pick up the phone. Good thing is that she came in five minutes. I picked up the amount and chocolates and rushed to the spot. I found out that son of injured person has come to pick him up. I was relieved but insisted that he takes the chocolates. He obliged.

I felt relieved.

No!!

So, whose mistake was this? It was my mistake. I proved the law right by forgetting to pick up money in the morning which was actually a drill and I should not have forgotten at all.

Now, let us extrapolate it in our daily life. We forget simple things, probably a bottle of water, a pen while going to office, our necessary medicines, our medicines …list is endless and prove that Murphy law of management is right. Prove that wrong by not forgetting your essentials.

I know so many of people having a showdown with the bosses in the morning presentation only because they did not take their regular anti diabetic medicine , and spoiling their career .

Make life easy, take life easy …prove Murphy law of management -totally wrong.
