Pune, July 27: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has detained Dr. Adnanali Sarkar (43), a renowned anesthesiologist affiliated with prestigious Pune hospitals, in connection with the ISIS Maharashtra module investigation. The central agency arrested him today at his home in Kondhwa, Pune.
Dr. Sarkar, a seasoned medical practitioner with 16 years of experience, is well-known for his anesthesiology skills. He earned his MBBS and MD Anaesthesia degrees from Pune's reputed BJ Government Medical College.
During the operation, the NIA conducted extensive raids at Dr. Sarkar's residence, recovering important evidence, according to the agency. Electronic devices and documentation explicitly tying him to the ISIS terrorist group were among the goods recovered.
According to the central agency, the information discovered proved his role in advancing the extremist group's deadly goal, including encouraging and recruiting vulnerable adolescents.
Noble Hospital's spokeswoman expressed surprise upon learning of his arrest. In addition, he stated that "Dr Sarkar was the best in the anesthesiology department."
Dr. Adnan Ali Sarkar worked for Navale Medical College before joining Noble Hospital as a consultant a few years ago.
According to the NIA, Dr. Sarkar's arrest was the result of his alleged conspiracy to facilitate terrorist activities on behalf of ISIS, which operates under various aliases including Islamic State (IS), Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL), Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), Daish, Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP), ISIS Wilayat Khorasan, and Islamic State of Iraq and Sham Khorasan (ISIS-K).
According to the central agency, the inquiry into Dr. Sarkar's affiliations with the extremist organization is still underway, with investigators attentively reviewing the damning evidence acquired during the operation.
