Local villagers discovered the improvised explosive device (IED) on the railway tracks and alerted authorities, according to reports. DVF and police officers went to the scene and collected the landmine, which was destroyed in a nearby woodland by a bomb disposal crew.

"After locals reported seeing a tiffin-like material, a team was rushed to the scene." It was an ancient tiffin bomb that had emerged after the muck had been swept away by recent severe rainfall for 15 days.

The explosives had also decayed, and it was defused," SDPO Swaraj Debata explained.

Following the seizure, search activities in the surrounding region have been stepped up. Jawans from the CRPF and RPF have been deployed to keep an eye out for suspicious moves near the train station. The Railways has also informed the station managers of Topadihi and other railway stations about probable Maoist subversive operations in the region.

There are widespread speculations among people that, a train was on target by Naxal terrorists.

Notably, three jawans, including one from Odisha, were killed last week in a firefight with Maoists in neighbouring Jharkhand.
