The story of Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati idol's installation is a tale of devotion and commitment. It is associated with Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai, a renowned sweet seller from Pune, India, who established the Dagdusheth Ganpati Temple.

The Legend:

The devastating plague that struck the city of Pune, in Maharashtra, during the late 19th century, caused widespread suffering and loss of life. Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai, a prosperous and compassionate sweet seller, was deeply moved by the plight of the people. He was known for his philanthropy and decided to take a significant step to alleviate the suffering of the residents.

Legend has it that one night, Dagdusheth Halwai had a divine dream in which Bhagwan Ganesha appeared and directed him to establish a Ganpati idol in the city. The deity instructed him to create a magnificent idol and organize an annual public Ganesha festival to spread joy, positivity, and hope among the people.

Touched by this divine vision, Dagdusheth Halwai immediately commissioned a skilled artist, Late Shri Balaji Patole, to craft a beautiful and elaborate idol of Bhagwan Ganesha. It is believed to be particularly benevolent and powerful, and people flock to the temple to seek blessings, especially during Ganesh Chaturthi, the festival that celebrates Bhagwan Ganesha's birth.
