Anantnag, Sept 19: After a 7-day-long mega stretch of back to back encounters in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag, the security forces have neutralized two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists including LeT commander Uzair Khan. Officials recovered the body of another terrorist, though they suspect there is a third one as the search operation continues.
Security officials also recovered a weapon from Uzair Khan, ADGP Kashmir Police Vijay Kumar said.
“LeT commander Uzair Khan has been killed, with the recovery of his weapon. Additionally, another terrorist's lifeless body has been found. The Anantnag encounter has concluded, but the search operation continues, ” ADGP Police Vijay Kumar said.
The encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists hiding in the Kokernag area of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir last week on Wednesday.

"There is a huge area that remains to be searched. There can be a lot of unexploded shells which will be recovered and destroyed. We appeal to the people not to go to the area," he added.
The ADGP said security forces had reports that two to three terrorists were there. "There is a possibility that the third dead body may be somewhere. It will be known after the search is complete," Kumar said.
Yesterday, two bodies were found from the forest area. One of the deceased was identified as Pradeep, the soldier killed by the terrorists on Wednesday while the identity of the other deceased is being ascertained.
Previously, Colonel Manpreet Singh, Commanding Officer, 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Ashish Dhonchak and Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat were killed by the terrorists on Wednesday.
