The Mumbai administration took Bulldozer action against the Islamic extremists who was involved in violent clashes in the Mira Road area of the city. The illegal constructions of the accused were demolished as part of the police action.
This comes after tensions flared up in the area when a mob of over 50 individuals reportedly vandalised vehicles displaying 'Jai Shree Ram' flags ahead of the Ayodhya temple's pran-pratishtha.
Taking note of the incident, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had said, "Police were instructed to take strictest action against the culprits. 13 have been arrested so far and detailed analysis of CCTV footage is underway to identify and arrest others involved too."
Fadnavis warned, "There will be zero tolerance against anyone who tries to take the law in their own hands and attempts to disturb the law and order situation in Maharashtra."
BJP Maharashtra Social Media chief, advocate Ashutosh Dubey shared videos of "Bulldozer Action on illegal encroachment" and thanked Fadnavis.
Notably, bulldozer action against people violating the law has gained prominence in the last few years, especially under the BJP governments. While many appreciate it as a "quick justice", many others denounce such actions.
Notably, on 21st January, amidst the celebrations of Ram Mandir Pran Prathishtha in Ayodhya, Hindus carrying out a procession were attacked by an Islamist mob at Mira Road in Mumbai. While the members of the Hindu community were taking out a procession via Mira Road with flags of Bhagwan Ram and Bhagwan Hanuman on their vehicles and chanting, “Jai Shri Ram”, an Islamist mob attacked the procession. The Islamists reportedly attacked the Hindus with sticks and rods, attacked the members of the Hindu community, damaged the vehicles, and desecrated the religious flags.
The mob did not even spare women who were part of the procession. In videos of the incident, people can be seen throwing away flags, attacking vehicles, and hurling abusive words at participants of the procession.
Mira Road comes under a predominantly Muslim area. Following the incident, the Police also conducted a flag march on Mira Road and appealed to everyone to maintain peace.
