The Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot became a stage for raw emotions in less than an hour before the start of the India vs England third Test as Sarfaraz Khan’s father couldn't control his tears after watching his son receiving maiden Test cap after years of hardwork and sacrifice.

Running in the direction of his father, Sarfaraz was the first to react when Kumble gave him the test cap. Naushad took the cap from his son and kissed the badge on it, tears streaming down his face. It was a dream that the father saw, nurtured and the son fulfilled after years of hard work, toil and countless impressive batting performances.

During Naushad Khan’s time in the commentary box Aakash Chopra asked him -“Did you wait for too long to see Sarfaraz Khan making his debut?” on which Naushad Khan gave a poetic reply– “Raat ko waqt chahiye guzarne ke liye, lekin Suraj meri marzi se nahi nikalne wala (it takes time for the night to pass, the sun is not going to rise according to my wish)” , which resonated deeply, capturing the patient pursuit of a dream that had finally come true.

The ceremony wasn't just a formality; it was a recognition of dedication and a beacon for aspiring cricketers. Fellow debutant Dhruv Jurel shared the moment, both receiving valuable advice from Anil Kumble ("embrace the pressure") and Dinesh Karthik ("trust your process"), words that resonated deeply with the young players.

But the real test begins now. Is Sarfaraz able to take his domination on home turf to a global level? His journey wasn't just about this single moment; it was the result of 36 first-class matches where he amassed 3380 runs at an astronomical average of 80.47. He has collected an incredible 1,910 runs in just 12 games over the last two Ranji Trophy seasons, a mind-boggling 136.42 average. These figures show a batsman in peak form, prepared to take on the greatest challenge.

As of todaythe India-England Test series is even at 1-1 after two matches.India won the first Test in Hyderabad by an innings and 132 runs. England bounced back in the second Test in Visakhapatnam, winning by seven wickets. The crucial third Test is currently on-going in Rajkot, and the result will determine the direction of the series.

Will Sarfaraz Khan continue his phenomenal run and silence his critics? Only time and his batting will tell.
