Jaipur, Feb 23: In a big statement, Dewan of Ajmer Sharif, Syed Zainul Abedin Ali Khan sent out a major message to the Indian Muslims regarding the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 (CAA) and cleared the misconceptions about the Act. He said that CAA is to give citizenship but not to snatch it so the Indian Muslims should not be afraid of it.

“CAA is not a controversial issue. It is being misled. It is to give citizenship to the Hindus coming from different nations. This is not for Indian Muslims. There's no provision in CAA to revoke citizenship of Muslims. And if any Indian Muslim's citizenship is revoked, we will be the first ones to stand against such developments," Dewan of Ajmer Sharif said.

The Ajmer Dargah chief was addressing a conference titled "Paigam-e-Mohabbat Hum Sab Ka Bharat" organised by the Rajasthan unit of All India Sufi Sajjadanshin Council in which heads of almost all the dargahs of Rajasthan were present.

In another video quoted by ANI, he said,
“We are not saying this, Home Minister Amit Shah has said this inside the Parliament. CAA is for the people who have migrated from Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan and came to India. Why are the Muslims of India afraid, this is not for them. Neither the citizenship will be cancelled from this (CAA)." - Dewan of Ajmer Sharif

Further, he said that India was playing a positive role in restoring peace in the world by following the civilization of Vasudhaiva Kutambakam, a statement issued here said.

“India is playing its role in world peace, so efforts should be made to resolve the internal issues of our country peacefully outside the courts… All that is needed is a strong initiative," he said.
