Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is likely to grant the wish of its fans ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as the franchise hints at a possible name change during the upcoming RCB Unbox event.

The home fans have always wanted the team to be called Royal Challengers 'Bengaluru' since the city was officially renamed from Bangalore to Bengaluru in 2014, and ever since the IPL inception.

Now, the latest video starring actor Rishab Shetty shared by the franchise gave the fans some hope.

In the video, Rishab Shetty is seen approaching three buffaloes with three different herders, baring the words "Royal", "Challengers" and "Bangalore". The Kantara-fame star tells the herder of the third buffalo, baring the word "Bangalore", to take the bull away, and turns to the camera to ask "did you understand?"

Following this, RCB released second video starring Puneeth Rajkumar's wife Ashwini on the similar lines. In the video, Ashwini working on her laptop types Royal Challengers Bangalore and further deletes only Bangalore hinting the name to be changed to Bengaluru.

All the suspense will be revealed on March 19 at the RCB Unbox event.

Notably, the Karnataka Government officially rechristened the name of the city to Bengaluru from Bangalore in 2014.

However, RCB were called Royal Challengers Bangalore rather than Bengaluru due to the franchise's recognition in the cricketing world. But it will now be changed, it seems.
