New Delhi, March 15: In a very shocking development, Pakistan believes that minorities in its own country are not persecuted religiously. This came after Pakistan Foreign Ministry's spokesperson spoke about the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 in a weekly news briefing calling the Act "discriminatory in nature".

It should be noted that the CAA grants Indian citizenship to Hindus, Parsis, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Christians who fled to India from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan before December 31, 2014. It aims to safeguard those persecuted on religious grounds in these three surrounding nations.

Speaking about the same, Pakistan Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch termed CAA as "evidently discriminatory in nature as they differentiate amongst the people based on their faith".

Blatantly lying about the increasing persecution of minorities in its own country especially Hindus, she said the CAA was premised on a "false assumption that minorities are being persecuted in Muslim countries of the region and the facade of India being a safe haven for them".

Further, the spokesperson also pointed out that the "rising wave of Hindutva under the BJP government has led to rapid political, economic and social victimization of Muslims and other minorities in India and the discriminatory steps further expose the sinister agenda of transforming India into Hindu Rashtra". She urged India to take action to protect its own minorities especially Muslims who, she said, are in a very difficult situation because of rising Hindutva.

Poking its nose in yet another matter, the spokesperson also "condemned" the Indian decision to declare the Kashmir National Front in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) as “illegal”.

“With this, a total of nine Kashmiri political parties have been outlawed in the IOK,” she said, adding that these oppressive measures reflected a vicious intent by India to stifle dissent and freedom of expression in the IOK in complete disregard of international laws.
Notably, NewsBharati has reported several cases of persecution of minorities especially Hindus in Pakistan wherein they are tortured, assaulted and murdered and no action is taken against the accused.
