Pune, March 15: The film "Bastar: The Naxal Story," based on the Naxal-affected region of Chhattisgarh, premiered in Pune yesterday at City Pride Kothrud. The film is an honest attempt to bring to the fore the harsh realities of Naxalism deeply rooted in India, said Amarnath Jha, the film's writer.

The premiere event, organized by the "Miti Film Society", witnessed the presence of actors Indira Tiwari and Vijay Krishna, who played the lead roles in the film on the occasion. Former Assistant Commissioner of Police Bhanupratap Barge, actors Ajay Purkar, RSS Pune Mahanagar Sanghchalak Ravindra Wanjarwadkar, and Miti Film Society President Milind Lele were also present.
 
Jha said that the film shows how the Naxal movement grows in society and how it exerts control over society, leaving the young and old helpless.
 
 
Indira Tiwari said that she acted in the film but was watching it as a viewer today. She said that the subject of the film has been brought to life through the acting, but she appealed to everyone to bring this subject to the attention of the entire society.
 
Ajay Purkar congratulated the writer, director, producer, and actors for daring to make a film on the social issue of Naxalism. He also appealed to everyone in society to watch the film. The artists present on the occasion were felicitated.
