Revanth Vows to Protect Muslim Quota

While speaking at the program he said the Congress government is committed to continuing four per cent reservations to the Muslim community in the state in education and employment. He came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their remarks over abolishing Muslim reservation if the BJP is voted to power.

“I want to remind Amit Shah ji that the Congress government is in power in Telangana. Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot abolish four per cent reservation to Muslims,” Revanth Reddy said.

Extending Ramzan greetings to Muslims, Revanth Reddy said the Congress government would strive to deliver secular governance and reminded them that the Congress government headed by late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy introduced four per cent reservations to Muslims and extended subsidy loans through finance corporations.

The Congress government in the past had appointed the best lawyers to fight for the reservations in the Supreme Court, when petitions were filed opposing reservations extended by the Congress in combined Andhra Pradesh.

"Hindus and Muslims are my two eyes. It is our responsibility to protect the Muslim’s interests," Revanth Reddy said.

Stressing that the Congress believed in secularism, he said that his government had appointed Mohd Shabbir Ali as the Advisor to the Government. Even in the newly constituted TSPSC Board, the state government ensured representation of minorities, He said the government will appoint a minority community member as the vice-chancellor to one of the universities in the state soon.
