The old video of Jawan actor was when he visited Ponjesly College of Engineering, Tamil Nadu in 2019. He had called out those politicians for playing politics over religion. This video has surfaced on the internet with netizens carrying out different narratives out of it

"My dearly loved people of India. Carefully cast your votes. Please think and cast your votes. It is important to cast your vote always. Help those who work on the problems of your friend, village, college or state. Never support those who say our caste/religion is in trouble. The one who says so is the one who instigates you and will be safe at home. We will be caught in this trap or trouble. Please understand this," Vijay Sethupathi said in the viral video.

A section of netizens, who seem to be supporters of the DMK government, have claimed that this video is for the BJP and that Vijay Sethupathi is asking them not to vote for the BJP.

However, some are saying this for Rahul Gandhi who has time and again talked about caste including the implementation of caste census.

It seems to be unclear who was indicating by passing such statements.
