Gadchiroli police foils naxalites plan ahead of election, kill 3 prominant Naxals

In major success against the Nazalites, the special forces has neutralized four Naxalites, carrying a collective bounty of ₹ 36 lakh during an encounter with police in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district. The encounter took place early morning in the Kolamarka mountains.

As per the information given by the officials, the nazalites were planning to carrying carry out subversive activities ahead of the Loksabha election which is sheduled to take place from April.

An AK-47 gun, a carbine, two country-made pistols, Naxal literature and other items were also recovered, the official said.
 
About the mission
 
The police received information on Monday afternoon that some Naxalites had entered Gadchiroli from neighbouring Telangana by crossing the Pranhita river with an aim to carry out subversive activities amid the model code of conduct in place for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Superintendent of Police Neelotpal said.
 
"A credible intelligence was received on Monday afternoon that some members of Telangana state committee have crossed Pranhita river from Telangana into Gadchiroli with an aim to carry out subversive activities during the Model code of conduct period of upcoming Lok Sabha elections," Gadchiroli SP said.

Multiple teams of C-60, a specialised combat unit of the Gadchiroli police, and the Central Reserve Police Force's Quick Action team were sent for a search in the area.
 
While one of the C-60 unit teams was conducting a search on Tuesday morning in the Kolamarka mountains near Repanpalli, Naxalites fired at them indiscriminately to which the security personnel retaliated, the official said.
After the firing stopped, the area was searched and bodies of four Naxalites were found, he said, adding that they were carrying a collective cash reward of ₹ 36 lakh on their heads.

On 24 February 2024, the Gadchiroli police raided one of the new base camps of the Naxal cadres and seized explosive materials and detonators after an encounter in North-Eastern Maharashtra. The police officials said that the Naxalities were camping at Hiddur Village to do a recce of a newly opened outposts Wangeturi and Gardewada.
According to the police officials, the seized items includes pitthus (bags), explosive materials, wire bundles, IED battery, detonators, hooks for claymore mines, solar panels and Naxal literature etc.
Last year a hardcore Naxalite couple carrying a collective cash reward of Rs 19 lakh on their heads surrendered before the government authorities in Gondia district of Maharashtra.
 
Naxal commander Lacchu alias Lacchan alias Sukhram Somaru Kumeti (39) and his wife Kamla alias Gauri Mehtri Samsay Halami (36) surrendered on September 22 before District Collector Chinmay Gotmare and Superintendent of Police (SP) Nikhil Pingale and other officials,
