The Probe

Kavya, who is a NEET aspirant, hails from Bairad of MP's Shivpuri district. Speaking about her staged kidnapping, SP Amrita Duhan revealed that Kavya's last location was in Indore, the latter's home state. “She arrived in Kota with her mother. However, after the mother left, Kavya moved to Indore and has been living there ever since with her two male friends,” the senior officer disclosed.

According to the police, Kavya is with two friends in staging this kidnapping. One of the two friends is cooperating with the police (in whose Indore apartment the ‘kidnap pictures’ were clicked), while the other is with Kavya; the duo wanted to go abroad but did not have money. SP Duhan also said Kavya was in Indore all this while and had never been admitted to the Kota Institute.

“Whether she did this under pressure or free will, would be revealed once she is traced. We appeal to the woman and her friend to report to a nearby police station or contact her worried parents,” SP Amrita Duhan said.

Earlier, in CCTV footage of March 18, barely 3 hours before the alleged kidnapping, the student was seen at Durgapura railway station in Jaipur. In the footage, she was seen walking with two boys. Kota police have also reached the station to investigate. The girl's location is being ascertained based on CCTV.

Not leaving any stone unturned, Kota SP has announced a reward of Rs 20,000 for anyone who gives information about the girl.
