After the Chennai Super Kings announced that MS Dhoni had handed over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad, fans got emotional over the development. However what started to trend on social media was "End of an era" with edited images of MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
It is the first time in IPL history that neither Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni or Rohit Sharma will not lead any team in an IPL season. Kohli stepped down as RCB captain at the end of 2021 while Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma as MI captain. And now, Dhoni passing the baton of CSK captain to Ruturaj.
