Parbhani, March 06: The ongoing Maratha reservation issue in Parbhani district took a violent turn as protestors defaced political posters, escalating tensions in the area.
The incident unfolded when Maratha protesters intercepted the convoy of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Prataprao Govindrao Chikhalikar during his visit to the district.
This recent episode comes amidst rising tensions in Parbhani, with youth making bold announcements and staging protests under banners featuring prominent political figures such as Dr. Fauzia Khan of Mahavikas Aghadi, Sena's Bandu Jadhav, Sena MLA Rahul Patil, and Congress MLA Suresh Warpudkar.
The Maratha community in Parbhani has been demonstrating significant assertiveness, particularly against key figure Pratap Patil Chikhalikar. Reports suggest that investigations into allegations made by Manoj Jarange will be conducted rigorously, putting scrutiny on leaders under the Mahavikas Aghadi banner in Shahapur.
It should be noted that, this is not the first time that Maratha protest has turned voilent, the houses and offices of people’s representatives were targeted and torched even as protestors targeted of state transport buses, burnt of tyres on roads blocking the traffic in Beed.
