"I am no Hema Malini, who’s made to lick others": Congress's Surjewala sexist comments against BJP MP, video goes viral

Representing Mathura, BJP leader Hema Malini has been nominated from the constituency for the third time for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In viral video, the Congress leader is saying, "MLA/MP kyun banate hain? Taaki vo humari awaaz utha sake, humare baat manvaye, isliye banate honge. Koi Hema Malini toh nahi, jo chatne ke liye banate hai?” [“Why make MLA/MP? So that they can raise our voice, get our views accepted, that is why they must be making it. It is no Hema Malini, who’s made to lick?”]

BJP slams Surjewala

The Bharatiya Janata Party came down heavily on Congress MP Randeep Surjewala for his ‘vile sexist comment’ against the BJP MP Hema Malini. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya took to X and said, “Congress MP Randeep Surjewala makes a vile sexist comment, that is demeaning and derogatory, not just for Hema Malini, who is an accomplished individual, but women in general.

Surjewala's response

In response, Surjewala said that the BJP “selectively put out parts of his speech” from Kaithal on Wednesday. The Congress MP also posted the full video on X and said, “Listen to the full video – I said, “We also respect Hema Malini a lot because she is married to Dharmendra ji and is our daughter-in-law.”

"You should ask them why do they target us...because we are very popular, we are famous. They (Congress leaders) should learn from PM Modi how to respect women," she said when asked about Surjewala's comments.
