New Delhi, Oct 10 : The Delhi police detained Cockroach Janata Party leaders Abhijit Dipke, Sourabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka as soon as they landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi enroute the CJP’s planned protest at Jantar Mantar. The passengers gawked at the potboiller scene of a heated confrontation between Dipke and the police officers that unfolded within moments after the plane landed at terminal 3.
The high voltage in-flight drama started the moment a team of 12 woman police officials entered the Mumbai-New Delhi flight carrying the top Cockroach Janata Party leaders on board. The moment the gates of the plane opened and the police team marched in, Dipke, flanked by Sourabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka went live on instagram.
Showing the police squad entering the plain, Dipke quipped, "Where is the nation heading? They are here to arrest us in the flight. Even Indira Gandhi didn't do this. This is dictatorship." Sourabh Das joined in saying, “The authorities are attempting to stall a constitutional movement through brute force.”
The Delhi Police officials tried to pacify Dipke saying, "No, this is not an arrest. Please cooperate." But, Dipke continued his theatricks, saying’ "You could have waited till we came out. Come arrest us, we are not afraid." Dipke, Das and Ranka were escorted out of the tarmac and taken to the detention centre. Later the cockroach Janta Party issued an official statement terming Dipke, Das and Ranka’s detention "authoritarian detention". The statement went on to say, "This pre-planned interception by the Delhi Police aims to cripple the leadership of today's peaceful demonstrations before they even reach the protest site.”
Elsewhere in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra, security was deployed at the residence of Dipke’s parents in view of the situation in Delhi. Earlier one guard was posted at Dipke’s residence but considering the situation in Delhi a team of 20 policemen has been detailed, PTI reported quoting an unnamed police officer from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
