Aichi-Nagoya , October 2 : Indian sailors Harshita Tomar and Shital Verma won the bronze medal in the women's skiff event at the 2026 Asian Games on Thursday, adding another medal to India's sailing campaign.
The Indian pair finished fourth after nine races in the opening series with 24 net points and 28 total points. However, China, which had initially secured the third position, was subsequently disqualified, moving Harshita and Shital into the bronze-medal position.
Earlier in the day, Manu Francis and Prince Noble won the silver medal in the men's skiff event. The Indian duo finished second behind China after completing nine races with 23 points, while Hong Kong took the bronze medal.
Competing together in the 49er class, Manu and Prince produced a consistent performance throughout the event and also won one of the nine races. Their silver medal was India's first medal in sailing at the ongoing Asian Games.
Harshita and Shital's bronze was among India's medals on Thursday. The country's medal tally also included a silver medal for Nitesh Siwach in the men's 97kg Greco-Roman wrestling category.
India's squash teams also contributed two bronze medals. The women's and men's teams finished third after losing their respective semifinal matches to Hong Kong and Malaysia.
In archery, T Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru secured another bronze medal in the men's compound individual event after defeating Vietnam's Cong Duc Dang.
The results across sailing, wrestling, squash and archery added to India's medal haul at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, with Indian athletes continuing to compete across multiple disciplines.
