Former Tamil Nadu BJP president and ex-IPS officer K. Annamalai has released a direct and unfiltered public statement. He did not spare anyone. He attacked the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), and the opposition Congress party in one go.
While mainstream news outlets quickly framed the episode as a singular attack on the Central government, the full text of Annamalai’s post reveals an unsparing assessment targeting political grandstanding and procedural failures across the entire political spectrum.
Calling Out the BJP: Police Power and Overreaction
Annamalai began his statement by addressing the detention of CJP activists in New Delhi by the Delhi Police. Drawing from his background in law enforcement, he raised serious questions about procedural fairness. He brought up Narendra Modi’s 2011 statement as Gujarat Chief Minister. Back in 2011, Modi defended the right of citizens to hold peaceful anti-corruption protests at Ramlila Maidan.
Annamalai pointed out that the core principle of constitutional protest remains valid today. He asked why an Assistant Commissioner of Police acts as a Special Executive Magistrate in preventive detention cases. He explained that a police officer cannot act as an impartial judge in a matter where the police force itself is the complainant. He also questioned why eight separate surety bonds were rejected and why citizens offering surety were subjected to harsh cross-examination.
In the same breath, Annamalai took a sharp jab at the BJP’s political strategy in Delhi. He mocked local BJP leaders, including an MLA who led a public event burning a cockroach effigy during Dussehra. He questioned whether the BJP was truly opposing the CJP or simply giving the fringe group free national publicity. He noted that such actions only serve to build up small groups and split opposition votes in upcoming elections. At this rate, he remarked, the CJP could not have hired a better public relations team
Calling Out the CJP: Bad Tactics and Reckless Claims
While Annamalai defended the legal right to protest, he did not support the CJP. Annamalai made it clear that defending the right to protest does not mean supporting the CJP. He stated directly that he disagrees with the CJP’s overall methods. He called their tactics misguided and irresponsible. He strongly cautioned CJP leaders and their supporters against smearing every democratic institution in India with black ink simply because a few individual officers made mistakes during an investigation. He refused to give the CJP a free pass for their political stunts and called out their attempts to undermine public trust in national bodies.
Calling Out Congress: Fake Agitations and Late Reactions
Annamalai did not stop there. He turned his attention directly toward the Congress party and exposed their political hypocrisy. He brought up the Congress party’s noisy protests over the Strategic Investment Region process. He asked Congress leaders where they were while the statutory process was actually taking place on the ground. He accused them of sitting quietly during the crucial decision-making phases and then staging fake political outrage after the work was already finished. He pointed out that opportunistic opposition parties only care about political drama rather than doing actual homework on policy issues.
