BRO’s Project Arunank Celebrates 19th Raising Day

Raised in 2008, Project Arunank has been developing and maintaining vital road infrastructure across Arunachal Pradesh’s challenging terrain, marked by rugged mountains, dense forests and difficult climatic conditions. Its work has played an important role in improving the mobility and operational preparedness of the Armed Forces while enhancing accessibility for people living in remote regions.

The Project continues to focus on engineering excellence and sustainable infrastructure development by adopting modern technologies and innovative construction practices. The use of alternative construction materials, geocells and slope-protection measures has helped improve the durability and resilience of infrastructure in difficult geographical conditions.

Focus on Labour Welfare and Community Development

Project Arunank has also prioritised the welfare of Casual Paid Labourers (CPLs), who play a vital role in road construction and maintenance. Measures include improved shelters, protective clothing, sanitation facilities and regular medical camps to support their health, safety and well-being.

Alongside infrastructure development, the Project has undertaken several initiatives to promote community welfare, environmental awareness and sustainable practices. These include cycling and yoga events, cleanliness drives and cyber-awareness programmes.

As part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, Project Arunank has planted 25,815 trees, reflecting its commitment to environmental conservation alongside infrastructure development.

Over the years, Project Arunank has continued to support the operational requirements of the Defence Forces while improving road connectivity and access to essential services for communities in remote parts of Arunachal Pradesh.

Its 19th Raising Day marks nearly two decades of efforts towards strengthening strategic infrastructure, promoting sustainable development and facilitating progress in the northeastern border state.
