New Delhi, October 28 : The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) tweeted a promotional video for the opposition alliance’s upcoming ‘Chalo Dilli’ protest rally depicting a young boy secretly filming and photographing a woman on his mobile phone. Following the backlash, the organisation deleted the video from its official social media handles within 24 hours of its posting.

The video was released to promote the rally scheduled for November 1 and encourage young people to participate. However, a sequence showing the boy secretly taking pictures of a young woman drew criticism from viewers, who questioned the use of such imagery in a political campaign.

Critics argued that the scene appeared to normalise stalking and the harassment of women. The controversy raised questions about the messaging used by the organisation to attract young people to the rally.

According to media reports, the video was removed following the public outcry. The publication also reported questions being raised with Youth Congress leaders over the strategy behind the promotional clip.

The incident has brought attention to the responsibility of political organisations in creating social media content, particularly when targeting young audiences. The controversy also highlighted concerns over the portrayal of women and behaviour that could be interpreted as harassment in promotional material.
