The accused, identified as Mohammad Kaif and Mohammad Jaseem, were allegedly associated with the Rashid Cablewala gang. Acting on specific information that the two would reach their residence in Usmanpur through a forested route, the police team laid a trap to apprehend them.

According to the police, the two suspects opened fire at the police team after reaching the spot. The police retaliated, during which both Kaif and Jaseem suffered bullet injuries to their legs. They were subsequently taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

During the exchange, bullets also hit the bulletproof jackets of two police personnel. However, both officers remained safe and escaped without injuries.

In a separate operation, the Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested a 19-year-old man from Palam Village and recovered two country-made pistols, two live cartridges and an air gun from his possession, officials said on October 4.

The accused was identified as Anshu, son of Satya Narayan and a resident of Palam Colony, Delhi. According to the police, he was arrested by a team of WR-II, Crime Branch, based on specific and credible information.

The recovered firearms and ammunition were seized following due procedure. Police said the accused allegedly obtained the illegal weapons to project dominance, intimidate others and display his perceived influence among his associates.

An FIR was registered at the Crime Branch police station in New Delhi on September 9 under Section 25 of the Arms Act. Further investigation into the case is underway.
