Washington DC, October 5 : SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has confirmed that the company's artificial intelligence arm, SpaceXAI, will be renamed SpaceXSI, following US President Donald Trump's executive order to replace the term “Artificial Intelligence” (AI) with “Super Intelligence” (SI) in the US executive branch.

Musk confirmed the proposed name change in a post on X while responding to a user who asked whether SpaceXAI could be renamed SpaceXSI. “Yes, we will make that change,” Musk replied. In another post, Musk wrote, “No more AI. SI, it's better.”

The decision follows Trump's executive order titled “Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence”, signed on September 29. The order directs departments and agencies across the US executive branch to use the terms “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in official correspondence, public communications, policy documents and other non-statutory documents.

According to a White House fact sheet, the order aims to recognise what the administration describes as the rapidly advancing technological frontier and the potential benefits it could bring to Americans.

The order also directs the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology to propose a federal definition of “Super Intelligence” and “SI” that reflects the current state of the technology. The official will also identify any additional executive actions required to implement the proposed definition.

The White House said the move is intended to strengthen US leadership in the field and ensure that Americans benefit from the economic opportunities associated with super intelligence.

Musk's decision to adopt the new terminology comes shortly after the executive order. The billionaire has previously spoken about the potential risks of advanced artificial intelligence and has endorsed Nick Bostrom's 2014 book “Superintelligence: Paths, Dangers, Strategies,” which examines the risks associated with uncontrollable superintelligence.

Musk has previously warned that highly advanced AI could pose risks greater than those associated with nuclear weapons, making his latest move toward the “Super Intelligence” terminology particularly notable.
