In a major development actor and writer Piyush Mishra has openly called out veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah for his one-sided and selective activism. In a fiery video that has taken social media by storm, Mishra did not mince words while exposing the double standards of senior film stars who only pick and choose issues that suit their narrative.

The explosive verbal spat erupted after Shah's recent appearance at a political demonstration in Mumbai alongside activist Abhijeet Dipke.

Mishra released a biting video statement targeting Shah’s pattern of selective public commentary, questioning why the senior actor selectively chooses which national events to address while turning a blind eye to others.

The friction started after Naseeruddin Shah participated in a protest in Mumbai organized by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). Reacting sharply to this, Piyush Mishra decided to hold a mirror to the veteran actor, questioning his sudden awakening on certain topics while completely turning a blind eye to major national moments and real ground struggles.

Mishra first pulled up Shah for ignoring genuine acts of national bravery. He pointed out the heroic instance of Flydubai pilot Captain Smit Machchhar, who displayed extraordinary courage and saved the lives of nearly 180 passengers mid-air. Mishra questioned why champions of free speech like Naseeruddin Shah failed to send a single word of appreciation or congratulations for a common Indian who saved hundreds of lives through sheer grit.

Moving further, Mishra targeted Shah over his silence regarding the tense student protests and police action at Lovely Professional University (LPU). Reminding Shah of his own past statements where he claimed to learn more from students than from acting schools like NSD or FTII, Mishra sarcastically asked, "Since when did these students become your acting teachers?" He demanded to know why Shah chose to stay quiet when students faced heavy-handed action, violence, and chaos on campus.

Perhaps the most scathing part of Mishra's attack was a personal anecdote from the Jharkhand student agitations. Mishra revealed that when they approached Shah for humanitarian assistance and relief support for struggling students on the ground, Shah did not send food or supplies. Instead, he sent an obscure verse by a Pakistani poetess.

Slamming this elitist attitude, Mishra remarked:

"People there did not want some poet’s nazm. They needed basic survival items like atta, dal, roti, litti, and chokha—not your poetry or pizzas and burgers!"

Ending his explosive message on a very blunt note, Piyush Mishra addressed Shah as an old acquaintance but issued a direct warning for the future: “From now on, whenever you release a public statement or jump into selective activism, Piyush Mishra is going to give you a direct, face-to-face reply every single time.”
