Army, Assam Rifles Apprehend Four Insurgents, Recover IEDs in Northeast Operations

New Delhi , October 6 : The Indian Army and Assam Rifles, operating under the Spear Corps, conducted a series of intelligence-based joint operations in coordination with state police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) across Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh between September 28 and October 4, resulting in the apprehension of four active insurgent cadres and the recovery of weapons, explosives and other war-like stores.

According to defence officials, the operations were carried out based on specific intelligence inputs and focused on disrupting insurgent networks, preventing illegal arms movement and addressing security threats in vulnerable areas of the Northeast.
 
During the operations, security forces also foiled an alleged IED-cum-ambush plot. Six Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), four weapons, ammunition and other war-like stores were recovered during the coordinated searches.
 
 
The operations involved personnel from the Indian Army and Assam Rifles working alongside state police forces and CAPFs. The joint teams conducted searches and area domination operations in sensitive areas of Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.

The forces also focused on identifying temporary hideouts and disrupting logistical networks used by insurgent groups. The operations were aimed at preventing attacks and maintaining security in areas along the frontier states.
The Indian Army and Assam Rifles have continued intelligence-driven operations in the Northeast as part of efforts to counter insurgency and prevent the movement of illegal arms and explosives.
 
Defence officials said the latest operations demonstrate the importance of coordination between the Army, Assam Rifles, state police and CAPFs in responding to security threats. The forces are maintaining vigilance in sensitive areas to prevent insurgent activities and support peace and stability in the region.
