Nadeem Ahmed, a student of a madarassa in Saket in Delhi, quit studying after failing to clear his Class X exam. The 24 year old son of Farukh Ahmed from Haryana, then turned into a five time Namazee fundamentalist. His life appeared aimless for the next eight years as he, like numerous Madarassa students who are not so comfortable with the modern knowledge and therefore unfit to secure employment, started calling himself a Talib and took up to making short tours to mosques in North Indian states.
But then, after the Cockroach Janata Party came into existence, he suddenly decided to style himself as an ‘Independant Journalist’ and work dedicatedly to spread anarchy in India. Today, after he circulated a deep fake video alleging a senior Delhi police officer sexually harassed a woman protester during the CJP’s agitation against EVM, he cools heels in the police lockup.
Though not perfect with language, Nadeem somehow procured AI software tools and learnt to make deep fake videos. Following left liberal influencers like Dhruv Rathee and Cockroach Janata Party’s official handle sure helped him lynch with the leftest ecosystem. Armed with this, he opened his instagram account news_aaina0776 and started posing himself as a journalist while circulating fake videos he created with AI tools.
Profile description of his news_aaina0776 too was adequately vague. The words news aaina were meant to make an impression that it was profile of a media organisation. The number 0776 was too similar to 786 _ the number that connotes the numeric value of the Arabic Phrase "Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim" _ but not the same.
Then the profile description contained the catchphrase #BMN, which was equally vague and which came like a post script to “AI-generated profile”. It could connote Beijing Media Network, or just simply “But Maybe Not” as the GenZ likes to say it. The only categorical claim in the profile description was “Managed by @_direct_media_network” but again the url

It seems that none of his target audience ever bothered to check and verify the credentials of the so-called news aaina. In a span of a few weeks after he launched the profile in April-May, it amassed 24.4k followers. Anyway it was the time when FOMO about Jantar Mantar agitation was being built up and so called ‘independent journalists’, ‘reel-maker influencers’ and self styled ‘activists’ from all over the country were flocking to Delhi to join the ‘party’. Nadeem, the 24 year old son of a non descript Farukh Ahmed from Haryana, too was one of them. Having an instagram profile like news_aaina0776 was adequate to present himself as an ‘independant journalist’ and being follower of Dhruv Rathee and the official instagram profile of the Cockroach Janata Party was enough to fake being an intellectual and socially conscious creature.
In fact, that was just the beginning of Nadeem’s journey as an anarchist. Armed with his 24.4k followers and contacts made during the Jantar Mantar project, he started using his instagram profile to spread the message Jantar Mantar 2.0 was inevitable.
It appears that Nadeem started his attempts to malign the image of Delhi police several weeks ago. On September 3, he shared a post by the profile abhishek-ray-up-44, which was marked as an AI content, that spread a message against the Delhi police. The post alleged that two women journalists were beaten up by Delhi police at Saket police station.
Then, when the CJP staged a protest against the Election Commission of India on October 4, he circulated a deep fake video that falsely showed a senior Delhi police officer sexually harassing a woman during the protests. The AI video came to the notice of the social media watch team of Delhi police, which alerted the cyber police station about it. The police ascertained Nadeem’s identity and traced his whereabouts to Haryana after technical analysis and promptly arrested him.
Once in the custody of the police, the Madarassa dropout started singing like a sparrow. He admitted to have created the deep fake video using AI tools on October 3 and circulated it on Instagram at the time of the protest. He said he intended to malign the image of Delhi police and instigate the protesters to become aggressive and start rioting. He also told the police that he tried to trigger riots because he wanted the mob to become violent so that anarchy spreads in India.
Nadeem may have confessed to his crime but the entire incident and Nadeem’s confession has opened the proverbial pandora’s chest. Firstly, the million dollar question that the Delhi police is trying to solve is whether Nadeem was a part of a larger and pre-planned conspiracy to spread widespread violence and anarchy in India. They are also trying to find out whether he acted all by himself or he was funded, helped and assisted by a well-organised group. The police are also probing whether Nadeem provided any sensitive information which he might have collected while pretending as an ‘independent journalist’ to anybody within or outside India. In short, he may have used his mask of a journalist to act as a spy. The police are also trying to find out his sources of income and whether he was funded by any individual or organisation.
The other serious matter of concern for the police from a security point of view is ascertaining the genuineness of persons who try to gain free access to various sensitive places and important people who style themselves with fancy titles like ‘independent journalist’, ‘freelance journalist’, ‘influencer’. The Delhi police, on Monday, issued a four point advisory for mediapersons to display their authentic identity cards. A move that is essential to national security!
