Assam Woman Found Dead in Andhra Pradesh Days After Going Missing From Train

Guwahati, October 8 : The body of a 20-year-old tribal woman from Assam’s Kamrup district was found in a forested area of Andhra Pradesh, days after she went missing while travelling by train from Visakhapatnam to Guwahati.

The woman, a student of B Borooah College in Guwahati, was travelling on the Dibrugarh Vivek Express (Train No. 22503). According to a complaint filed by her mother, she boarded the train at Visakhapatnam at around 11:50 pm on October 5. The train departed from the station at 12:10 am and was scheduled to reach Guwahati at 9:05 am on October 7.
 
According to family sources, the woman had travelled to Andhra Pradesh to take part in a dance performance and was returning to Assam.
 
The family last spoke to her at around 2:39 am on October 6. In her final message, she reportedly told her family that she was frightened because there were several men around her.

Following her disappearance, a complaint was filed with the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Guwahati. The family also reported the matter through the Railway helpline 139.
 
 
 
Railway police launched a search along the train route after the woman’s bag was found inside the S2 coach of the Dibrugarh Vivek Express.
 
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) later recovered the woman’s body from a forested area near Malayapuram in Andhra Pradesh, according to an RPF source.
 
Railway police officials said that the exact cause of death has not yet been established. Further investigation is expected to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
 
The woman’s family is from Chapaidang under Bonda Post Office in Kamrup district.
