Gurgaon , October 8 : The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) emerged as the overall champion in men’s swimming at the 74th All India Police Aquatic Cluster, held at the National Security Guard (NSG) campus in Manesar from October 1 to 6.The CISF aquatic contingent delivered a strong performance, securing 30 medals across swimming and diving events. The haul included 12 gold, 11 silver and seven bronze medals.
The CISF men’s swimming team topped the championship with 19 medals, including eight gold, seven silver and four bronze. The women’s swimming team finished third with eight medals, comprising three gold, two silver and three bronze.
The force also secured three medals in diving, including one gold and two silver medals.
The aquatic cluster was organised under the All India Police Sports Control Board and featured competitions in swimming, water polo and diving. Teams from various state police forces and central police organisations took part in the event.
The closing ceremony was held at the NSG campus in Manesar and was attended by NSG Director General Brighu Srinivasan, IPS, who presented medals and trophies to the winners.
The CISF aquatic team was managed by Commandant Thachunghnung, with Malpeddi Gopi R serving as coach and Shaji Kuriakose as assistant coach.
The CISF also recorded success in the cross-country championship held alongside the aquatic events. Reenu of CISF won the gold medal in the women’s category.
The force had fielded a two-member contingent in the cross-country competition, adding another achievement to its overall performance at the event.
