On Sunday, 26th April,
the Sashastra Seema Bal seized more than 327 kg of Marijuana from one identified as Ranjeet Giri and arrested him near the Indo-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj district.
As stated by SSB Assistant Commandant Dinesh Chandra Biswas, the authorities acted on specific information and conducted a special operation to nab Giri.
Notably, while the prime accused has been arrested, his other associates, who managed to flee from the spot during the operation, are being traced.
The drugs Giri was supplying were valued at Rs 20 crore in the international market. He was transporting the consignment in a truck when he was intercepted. The team also stated that Giri had procured the contraband from Nepal and had been supplying drugs across the region as well.
After the parliamentary interrogation, Giri has been handed over to the
Narcotics Control Bureau. Reports mention that the victim operated a large syndicate network and the information regarding the same will be recovered through thorough interrogation. Also, a case has been registered under the
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
