On Tuesday , 12th May, the
Assam Police detained an individual after live bullets were found on him during security checking at the swearing-in ceremony venue of Assam’s new government.
The incident happened at the Veterinary College Field in Khanapara, where Himanta Biswa Sarma was set to take oath as Chief Minister for a second straight term.
Police said the bullets were recovered during routine security screening at one of the entry gates. The man was immediately taken into custody for questioning and later taken to the
Basistha police station.

Officials said no gun or any other weapon was found with him. Police have started an investigation to find out why he was carrying the bullets and whether there was any security threat.
The incident took place just minutes before Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya was to administer the oath of office to Himanta Biswa Sarma and his new Council of Ministers.

The ceremony in Guwahati was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, along with several chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from NDA-ruled states.
