Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale, on Tuesday, May 12 night, spoke about the issue of Love Jihad during an exclusive interview with Press Trust of India (PTI), stating that 'pure love' and 'Love Jihad' should not be seen as the same thing.
In the interview, Hosabale
reportedly said that genuine relationships based on mutual love and consent should not be questioned, but alleged cases involving deception, religious concealment, coercion, or organized conversion campaigns are what the RSS refers to as Love Jihad. He described such activities as agenda-driven and said they should be viewed separately from normal interfaith relationships.
The RSS leader emphasized that there is no question about pure love, while affirming that Jihad is agenda-driven. His remarks came amid continuing national debates over religious conversion laws, interfaith marriages, and anti-conversion legislation introduced in several BJP-ruled states.
Hosabale’s comments quickly triggered political reactions online, with supporters arguing that organized religious conversion through fraudulent relationships should be investigated. It is important to note that several cases of Love Jihad have emerged from across the state, where Hindu girls are deliberately targeted and forced to convert their religion to Islam.
The Islamic intentions behind this were exposed when the terrorist organization identified as the Popular Front of India (PFI) was banned by the state. During the raids at various PFI hideouts across India, several incriminating documents were recovered in which a roadmap to make India an Islamic nation by 2047 was laid out. One of the ways through which it could happen, as per the incriminating documents, is Love Jihad.
The document asked the Islamists to deliberately trap Hindu women in a love affair and force them to convert their religion to Islam. A legit reward system had been set up for this, in which the Islamists would be offered cash, assets, including properties, and an expensive phone for targeting Hindu women.
The PTI interview also covered several other national and international issues, including India-Pakistan relations and the ongoing West Asia conflict. During the same interaction, Hosabale said India should not completely shut the doors for dialogue with Pakistan despite continuing tensions.
